Job Description:

  • Gather all relevant documents including property plans, engineering drawings and project specifications.
  • Research documents, meet with customers and inspect the site to fully understand the work required.
  • Decide the most suitable human and material resources for each project.
  • Get several quotes for each of them then choose the most suitable offer.
  • Negotiate with service provider for better price.
  • Describe the work plan to assess the time required to complete each development.
  • Perform a risk assessment to account for potential deviations from the project plan.
  • Calculate the use of our resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate the overall price.
  • Write a proposal detailing materials, costs, and expected deadlines.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their thoughts and concerns about our services.
  • Gain an understanding of current project/program requirements.
  • Choose metrics to generate valid estimates.
  • Visit locations, warehouses and other places to gather the necessary information.
  • Review literature or consult an expert to collect all necessary data.
  • Analyze data and make forecasts.
  • Perform risk analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports or proposals for submission to the appropriate parties.
  • Choose profitable deals by evaluating offers and quotes.
  • Foster relationships with key suppliers.

Construction Estimators Jobs in Canada (NOC 2234)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Science or related field
  • Having a degree in project management is an advantage.
  • Experience in construction estimating.
  • The ability to predict expensive and involved construction development costs.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical and non-technical documents.
  • Exceptional quantitative skills.
  • Exceptional research and proposal writing skills.
  • Ability to negotiate with experienced sales staff.
  • Reliable, dedicated and well-spoken.
  • Proven experience as a construction estimator.
  • Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
  • Thorough understanding of research methods, data analysis, and estimates.
  • Get comfortable with numbers and technology.
  • Excellent knowledge of software.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Well organized and reliable.
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification would be a plus.
