Job Description

  • Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance
  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
  • Service, repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive equipment such as
    container truck lifts, reach stackers, front end loaders, cranes and other special
    purpose types of equipment
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
  • Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests;Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to
    perform equipment repair, inspection and preventive maintenance
    identifying worn and damaged parts
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles
  • Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets
    manufacturers’ specifications
  • Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms
  • Maintain a schedule for preventative maintenance on all equipment providing for
    lubrication, replacement of tires and tune ups
  • Performing major repair work when necessary
  • Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to
    perform equipment repair, inspection and preventive maintenance
  • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management

 

Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic Jobs in Canada (NOC 7312)

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy diesel
    equipment, or equivalent
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies
  • Welding experience (a plus)
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to work after-hours if required
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery

  • 40 to 60 hours per week
  • Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Early Morning, Morning

 

Required Years of experience: 3 Years or more

Salary: $23.00 – $35.00 per Hour
