The Canadian province of Saskatchewan held its latest draw on October 10.  853 candidates were invited by SINP to apply for provincial nomination.

The candidates were selected from Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand immigration sub-categories.

  • 359 candidates from the Express Entry sub-category were issued invitations. The lowest-ranked had a score of 60 under Saskatchewan’s point assessment grid.
  • 494 candidates were invited from Saskatchewan’s Occupations In-Demand sub-category. The lowest-ranked among these candidates had a score was 63.

What is the difference between Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand candidates?

  1. The Express Entry candidates who received an invitation for SINP received an extra 600 points in their CRS score. This means they will have a good score before the next Federal draw and will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian PR.
  2. The candidates who received an invite through the Occupations In-Demand sub-category will be able to apply for Canadian PR directly through SINP.

The minimum score in both sub-categories (Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand) were the lowest since the launch of the EOI system in July.

What is EOI?

EOI stands for Express of Interest. It serves as ‘pre-application’ in SINP. Candidates have to answer questions based on work experience, education and proficiency in English or French, etc. The candidates receive a score out of 100 based on their answers. One has to score a minimum of 60 to qualify. The candidates are then ranked based on their scores.

Note: SINP updated its In-Demand Occupations List on October 11. NOC 2123 (Agricultural representatives, consultants and specialists) and NOC 3216 (Medical Sonographers) have been removed from the list. Presently the number of occupations that are listed as in-demand by the SINP is 20.
